The collection of cartoon-inspired original paintings will be showcased at Castle Fine Art in The Mailbox from Thursday 4th July until Sunday 28th July.
Following a successful career as an official LEGO artist for 17 years, John McCormack’s latest venture combines both his roots at the prestigious Rhode Island School of Design and the Art Institute of Chicago with his life-long love for art and pop culture.
Inspired by Abstract Impressionism, John’s paintings have original pencil sketches immersed within the layers of paint. The recognisable depictions featured in his work, including LEGO, Peanuts and Wallace Gromit, are presented as both entire beings and a unique combination of shapes, patterns and colour.
John McCormack said: “To share my creative output with Castle Fine Art can only be described as a dream fulfilled. To understand that others may want to view or even own one of my creations is simply joyous for me.”
Danny Wigley, gallery manager at Castle Fine Art, the Mailbox, said: “We are very excited to be among the first to release John’s work in the UK.
“His portrayal of pop-culture nostalgia combined with his bright and energetic style is unlike anything we’ve exhibited before and can only be truly appreciated in person. We look forward to welcoming visitors to the Mailbox to experience the artwork for themselves.”
