After the phenomenal success of the Worcester Marathon and Half Marathon earlier this year, not only is it attracting more and more runners each year, but new sponsors too – the event has teamed up with new title sponsor, Hewett Recruitment. Hewett Recruitment, who has supported the event since the first marathon in 2011, is a multi-specialist recruitment agency based in the Worcestershire area.

Louise Hewett said: “We’re delighted to be supporting our city’s marathon and half marathon as title sponsor this year. Each year the race has grown and we’re proud to be part of it on a larger scale. It’s a really great event for this city and we’re very much looking forward to not only sponsoring it, but being there to support everyone taking part on the day.”

Race organiser, Tempo Events, is looking to attract in excess of 1500 runners for the 2014 event, which is open for entries now, and in turn help raise invaluable funds for its charity partner – Worcester based, St Richard’s Hospice; helping patients and families in Worcestershire who are living with cancer and other life-threatening illnesses.

Rob Minton, Race Director, Tempo Events, said: “Each year this race reaches more and more people in Worcester and the surrounding area.  To have Hewett Recruitment as title sponsor just goes to prove the success of the past two years and we’re thrilled to have them on board supporting the event, which is proving to be a date not to be missed in the runner’s calendar.  The people of Worcester have really taken to this event and we know these races will grow year-on-year and will be of great benefit to all those involved – sponsors and charity alike.”

Jodi Brandwood, Community Fundraiser at St Richard’s Hospice said: “This is the third consecutive year as charity partner and each year the support for St. Richard’s grows. We’re looking forward to 2014 being even bigger and better! Having Hewett Recruitment as title sponsor is fantastic as Louise Hewett has supported the hospice for over 10 years and is also a patron.”

The races will start and finish at Worcester Warriors Rugby Club – Sixways on Sunday May 4th 2014.  Runners take a scenic, rural route that heads out east from the city; the half marathon runners complete one loop and full marathon runners take on a second loop before the last downhill mile to the finish line. Both races start simultaneously at 9.30am.

Everyone’s in for a prize with all runners receiving a tee-shirt and a medal, and there are dedicated prizes for the first, second and third male and female finishers, plus a team prize and corporate team prize.

The race is suitable for all standards of runner and will be professionally chip timed.

Entries are open now, so get involved and register online at www.tempoevents.co.uk.  All entries must be received by 27th April 2014. There are limited entries on the day.
