A Warwickshire IT firm has taken on new staff and expanded into fresh offices after landing contracts worth almost £200,000.
The Emerald Group landed several large scale contracts – including with Ikea’s Home Delivery Network – and that has led to the addition of two more staff, which takes the team to 12, and more office space at Trident Park in Leamington. Two more staff will be added before the end of the year.
The company has been steadily expanding over the past six years but support from the Coventry and Warwickshire Chamber of Commerce has helped to speed up the firm’s growth.
The Chamber’s help led to assistance from the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and the Growth Accelerator programme, which helped to finance the office move while the Chamber’s business support team also offered a host of business advice.
This business support has resulted in Emerald creating a bespoke training and personal development programme for upskilling staff in both technical and soft skills.
CEO Sarah Windrum said: “With the extra space we’ve been able to take on two more people and plan to take on at least two more before the end of 2015.
“We’ve also secured new contracts worth almost £200,000 over the next few years, including a large contract with Ikea’s Home Delivery network – which we wouldn’t have been able to do without the strategic advice we’ve received.
“It’s given us the confidence to bid for the contracts we’ve recently secured knowing that we have both the skills and the capacity to fulfil on our promises.
“Both programmes required match funding from the business, which I believe helped to focus our minds on what we’re hoping to achieve. From my perspective, it’s not about the money, it’s about the mind-set!”
The Chamber offers companies a range of support – from strategic advice through to assistance with identifying and applying for funding.
Tracy Benbow, of the Coventry and Warwickshire Chamber of Commerce, said: “It’s a great company that explores every possible angle when it comes to growing the business.
“We’re convinced that they’ll keep on growing. Supporting growth and success is what the Chamber’s all about, so it’s really pleasing to have played at least a small part in helping the Emerald Group.”
