Hot off the back of the city’s swankiest cocktail bar and restaurant opening of the year, Nocturnal Animals, The Wilderness are pushing the boundaries of Birmingham’s Food Scene yet again. The irreverent fine dining restaurant based on Warstone Lane, in the Jewellery Quarter has announced they have closed for November to upgrade their kitchen and dining room. The restaurant is already known for its playful brand of rock and roll fine dining, so it shouldn’t come as a shock that the restaurant now identifies as The Restaurant Formerly Known as The Wilderness.
The surprise expansion comes ahead of a much-anticipated announcement in January of the restaurant’s final move to a flagship venue in the city centre. Works have been undertaken to ensure the now open-kitchen becomes the focal point of the 20-cover restaurant, enforcing the restaurants mantra that the experience fully revolves around what’s in your mouth. The Restaurant Formerly Known as The Wilderness plan to take the guest beyond the limits of usual fine dining, experimenting with tastes, senses and quite literally blindfolds.
Chef Patron, Alex Claridge has commented “Nocturnal Animals has been an incredibly exciting opening and I’ve always enjoyed making my life difficult, so I wanted to take this opportunity to challenge whatever guests think they know about our original restaurant and deliver something better, ruder, harder and wilder. Buckle in because it’s going to be a wild ride.”
The Restaurant Formerly Known as The Wilderness looks forward to welcoming guests old and new to the revamped restaurant from Saturday 24th November where it will open for bookings Wednesday to Saturday, with availability to private hire the venue on separate days.
