The city gets set to be social at Suffolk Street Queensway Underpass

Following the success of the 2017 events, Suffolk Street Queensway Underpass is scheduled to be transformed again for a series of City Social events across 2018. The events will host local food, drink, retail and local performers.

Originally launched as part of Birmingham Weekender in September and then ‘Christmas at City Social’ that was live for six weeks on the run up to Christmas, the first of the 2018 events will be ‘Spring at City Social’, taking place underneath the Suffolk Street Queensway Underpass 3rd-28th May.

The event will trade seven days a week, with operating times being 12pm – 7pm Sunday through to Wednesday and 12noon – 9pm Thursday through to Saturday.

Each week there will be local food, drink and retail operators, and at the weekend those traders will be a part of an entertainment schedule including local acoustic artists, DJs and live bands.

Bespoke set-ups and vehicles will include: Pimms, Burgers, Juice & Smoothies, Desserts, Caribbean, Peaky Blinders Bar & Retail from Sadler’s Brewery, ABK Bavarian Beer, Fish & Chips, Indian Street Food from Mahirs, a City Social bar and more!

To accompany Spring at City Social’s local traders and entertainment schedule, additional activities across the 26 days will include a screening of the Royal Wedding from 12pm on Saturday 19th May, a Peaky Blinders themed event on Friday 18th May from 6pm, and also an opportunity for local Birmingham businesses to reserve an area for themselves to enjoy the events activities, food and drink.

City Social is owned and managed by AllinAll Hospitality Ltd, co-owners Emma Jones & Mark Jones said:

“Everyone’s response to the City Social events, underneath the Suffolk Street Queensway Underpass, has been fantastic. We’re proud to say that we work with local businesses for these events, also welcoming local entertainment to provide the general footfall with plenty of entertainment. We both look forward to welcoming everyone to what is going to be a great addition to the Birmingham events calendar.”
