A gym that offers tailored training and advice to meet clients’ fitness goas is looking to expand its premises due to demand. Coalition Performance in Solihull is a physical fitness and performance training gym aimed at transforming the bodies and lives of determined, driven and aspiring men and women to achieve personal goals through fitness training.

In addition to access to the gym facilities, members receive and individualized training programmes updated every session, weekly nutrition guidance and coaching every time members train.

Dave Cripps owns Coalition Performance. His background includes work as a strength coach for the Leicester Tigers where he worked with members of the junior team and first team.

Dave said: “I came to a point where I had coached at various clubs but wanted to do something a bit different and set up Coalition Fitness in 2015. I was a new dad and wanted to change from helping pro athletes who were great and instead help real people achieve their fitness goals by taking them out of a traditional gym environment and support them through coaching.

“It was a big change as I went from working with seven or eight other coaches to working on my own. I missed the atmosphere of being with people all day so looked at ways I could develop the business which is how I found Entrepreneurial Spark.”

Based at NatWest’s offices in St Phillip’s Place, Birmingham, Entrepreneurial Spark Powered by NatWest  is the world’s largest free business accelerator and provides a unique training programme focused on developing the right mind-set and behaviours needed to become a successful entrepreneur through enablement, mentoring and development support. This includes support from partners including KPMG, Dell Technologies and Pinsent Masons.

Dave said: “I joined in February 2016 and I think the biggest thing for me has been really focussing on the business and seeing myself as a business owner. Since joining we have trebled monthly turnover, increased relative profit, and grown from two coaches to four. We are currently at capacity and are looking at ways to expand our current premises so we can take on additional members.”

Lee Currier, Entrepreneur Development Manager at NatWest, said: “It’s an exciting time for Dave and Coalition Fitness as they look at ways to expand the business further. Dave is a great example of someone who has embraced the Entrepreneurial Spark programme, and continues to develop his business to its next level.”
