Aston Marina’s new bar and dining venue, No. 26, is taking shape quickly ahead of its planned launch in mid-May.
Named for the number of the nearest lock on the neighbouring Trent and Mersey canal, No. 26 will see the marina’s award-winning kitchen team expand on the repertoire of dishes found in the popular Bistro restaurant. With continued emphasis on showcasing the finest seasonal, locally produced ingredients the new dining space will quadruple the capacity of The Bistro and include a bar area where visitors can enjoy drinks ranging from coffees to locally produced beers, wines from an extensive wine list and house cocktails.
In terms of design and layout, echoes of the marina’s farm shop heritage can be found in the décor, with luxurious textiles and feature lighting contrasting wood, slate and rope accents. The centrepiece of the space will be a huge wood burning stove whilst huge glazed panels will allow light to flood the space and make the most of views over the marina. Director Helen Webb says:
“Work is well underway and it’s hugely exciting to see No. 26 take shape. We’ve worked closely with designers and architects to create comfortable, cosy and relaxing atmosphere to enjoy breakfast, lunch, dinner and drinks seven days a week.”
With the new restaurant and bar set to launch in May, chefs are busy developing a new menu that will feature fresh stone baked pizzas from a new oven and some Great Taste Award-winning classics from the Bistro menu alongside brand new seasonal dishes. One thing all dishes have in common will be the use, where possible, of ingredients from local producers handpicked for their quality and flavour and the menu includes extensive options for vegetarian, gluten free and younger diners.
