L-R: Shereena Starmer, Shabby Nook and Julie Hotchkiss, Reviive

Shropshire resale and recycling social enterprise Reviive has organised two entry-level workshops for people interested in gaining the painting techniques and skills used to upcycle and restore furniture.

Taking place on Sunday 07 April and Sunday 07 July at its Shrewsbury outlet, the one day (11am to 3.30pm) workshops will be run by furniture painting expert Shereena Starmer from Shabby Nook.

The course will cover the following core elements:

  • Introduction to Fusion Mineral Paint products: learn about the different qualities
  • Furniture preparation
  • Paint application techniques
  • Different finishes and how to apply
  • Care and maintenance
  • Common problems and how to overcome them
  • Guidance to complete your own project

Refreshments and a small selection of paint colours will be provided. However, if a specific finish and colour is required there will be an additional charge, with a 10 per cent discount for the product.

Attendees are advised to wear suitable attire as the paint cannot be washed out of shoes or clothing.  There will be a maximum of ten paces available on each workshop.

Shereena Starmer said: “This course is the perfect introduction to an understanding of how to paint furniture and perfect for people looking to restore old or recycled piece of their furniture in a cost-effective, personalised and fun way. Attendees will be able to share ideas with each other and receive some one-to-one tuition.”

For more information or to book a place at a once-only introductory offer of £25 per person for these two workshops, contact Reviive 01743 588458. All workshops are to be paid for in full at the time of booking.
