Pushkar Cocktail Bar and Dining, on Broad Street, Birmingham, is bucking the trend for struggling businesses in the current economic climate with it’s increasing success in the restaurant and hospitality industry, having recently expanded it’s total number of staff by just over 10% in the past 6 months to keep up with an ever increasing number of diners. Pushkar now employs 35 staff members, including front of house staff and kitchen staff.
The restaurant is also fast becoming a favourite with high profile celebrities visiting Birmingham from all over the world; from home grown talent such as Eastenders stars, Steve McFadden and Dean Gaffney, TV presenter, Chris Tarrant, and British comedian, Dom Joly, to the Indian and New Zealand national cricket teams, Bollywood actor and comedian, Johnny Lever, Aston Villa footballer, Yacouba Sylla, and Olympic athletes including Bulgarian tennis player, Tsvetana Pironkova, and Indian Badminton champion, Saina Nehwal. The Indian Cricket Team, in particular, have become regular diners at Pushkar. Since their first visit in 2009, the team have now visited Pushkar on a total of 3 occasions. Impressed by the restaurant’s service and cuisine, they even requested that Pushkar prepare and deliver them breakfast, lunch and, when they were not dining in at the restaurant, also had dinner delivered to their hotel on several occasions during their week’s stay in England this June. The team also had a private party at their hotel, the Hyatt Regency Hotel (also on Broad Street), with a request that Pushkar host the glamorous gathering.
To round off what has been an eventful six months, Pushkar have recently been awarded a 2013 TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence, a prestigious award which places Pushkar in the top-performing 10% of all businesses worldwide on TripAdvisor, and is given to businesses that consistently earn high ratings from TripAdvisor travellers.
Rai Singh, Creative Director at Pushkar, comments: “We were delighted to be awarded a 2013 Tripadvisor Certificate of Excellence and we can’t thank our diners enough for the high ratings and glowing reviews. We’re also very flattered with our increasing number of celebrity diners – it creates a great buzz for the restaurant and is proof that our standards for the restaurant and the service we provide remain consistently high. And it’s always good to have the Indian cricket team back, our regulars!”
