‘Pop-up shop’ launched to promote merger of Telford colleges

Telford College – which brings together New College Telford and Telford College of Arts and Technology – has opened an advice centre to showcase its fresh range of courses.

The pop-up shop, at Sherwood Square in Telford Shopping Centre, will be open seven days a week until November. Touch-screen information points, and display boards, contain facts and figures about all the upcoming courses at both campuses for 2017-18.

Staff from A-level and technical courses are on hand to offer advice and support for applications. Those interested can apply immediately at the advice centre.

Graham Guest, principal and chief executive of Telford College, said: “Telford College combines the best traditions, skills and resources of both partners to create a vibrant new learning community. “The new college gives us the opportunity to create ‘learning communities’ such as academic, vocational and technical, higher education and apprenticeships.

“These will each have their own character and identity but will also collaborate to offer flexibility and progression routes for students. “I am confident that the merged college will make a significant contribution to the economic development of Telford and Wrekin and will provide a curriculum that meets the needs of our current and future students.”

The advice centre is open from 10am to 5pm Monday to Saturday, and 10am to 4pm on a Sunday.
