Over 1,000 bubblers take on Acorns soapy spectacular

More than 1,000 foamy fundraisers descended on Birmingham on Saturday 20th July to raise vital money for local children and their families.

The Acorns Birmingham Bubble Rush saw friends and families flock to Cofton Park to walk, run and jog their way through a sea of multi-coloured foam.

The 5km soapy spectacular was held to raise funds for Acorns Children’s Hospice towards its care for life limited and life threatened children across Birmingham and the West Midlands.

Kirsty Murray, from the Acorns Events Team, said: “It has been an awesome day! It was an amazing sight seeing hundreds of smiling people being showered with masses of bubbles.

“Thank you to everyone who signed up to take on the bubble canons and to all the volunteers who worked so hard. Your help and generosity mean Acorns can continue to fund vital care for children and young people and support for their families.”

There was plenty of atmosphere on the day as excited bubblers decked out in bright sunglasses and colourful clothing set off in two giant waves. All entrants received a Bubble Rush t-shirt and finish line medal.

Participants who raised an unbeliev-a-bubble £100 or more in sponsorship, were entered into a prize draw to win a family pass to Alton Towers.

Kirsty added: “We’re delighted that Bubble Rush was such great fun for everyone involved, but from a fundraising point of view, events like these are so important. It costs £27,000 every day to run our care services so money raised will make a real difference to the children and families we care for.”

Acorns Children’s Hospice provides specialist palliative care to children and young people and support for the family. In the past year Acorns has cared for over 787 children and more than 1,220 families, including those who are bereaved.
