A new restaurant serving British food and accompanied with a sophisticated wine bar for the over 21s has officially opened in Bridge Street, Evesham.
On the Rocks is the latest venture from local entrepreneurs Kevin Donegan and Carol Marshall who own three successful pubs and eating places in Honeybourne, Offenham and Childswickham.
Kevin believes there is a gap in the market for a quality British dining experience in Evesham town centre and sees the new venture as complementing his existing businesses.
On the Rocks specialises in fish and steak and will be sourcing quality local and regional produce, including rare breed steaks from Herefordshire and fish served within 24 hours of being caught.
A major attraction is expected to be the Black Rock Grill. The dining system involves cooking on hot rocks and stone grilling by cooking on heated rocks. It has become the world’s biggest slow cooking concept.
Kevin says: “We think On the Rocks is just what Evesham needs and, as a measure of our intent, we have recruited rosette trained chef Matthew Ayres as our head chef, after his successful work at The Lamb at Great Rissington.
“Matt has great producer contacts in the area and will be looking to showcase some of the Vale’s excellent produce on his menus. And as we are freehold, our choice of beers can also reflect local and regional favourites.”
Welcoming this latest business to arrive in the town centre, Evesham Market Town Partnership manager Shawn Riley said:
“On the Rocks is the prefect accompaniment for Evesham and helps diversify the range of food and drink venues on offer in the town. I wish Kevin, Carol and the team all the best with the new business.”
On the Rocks can cater for 40 people in its restaurant. It is initially opening from 5pm Tuesdays to Saturdays but hopes to add lunchtime opening eventually. Special occasions including parties and weddings are welcome.
