When a Warwickshire moulding company needed help with a special delivery, a logistics firm tabled an offer they couldn’t refuse.
Plastic moulding specialists Engel UK, based in Tachbrook Park; Warwick, needed help with a significant delivery to their UK offices after commissioning a 1.8 tonne table made out of disused machine parts manufactured by the firm.
Engel UK, which supplies and services plastic moulding machines in the UK on behalf of its Austrian parent company, needed to transport the table from Leicester to its Warwick base and approached their regular logistics firm Exact Logistics, based in Rugby, for their help.
The two companies have been working together for over three years with Exact Logistics making regular deliveries for Engel across the entire UK and Ireland as well between the company’s UK offices and European headquarters in Austria.
Adam Shuter, managing director at Exact Logistics, said: “This is not our usual type of delivery, we are used to dealing with high volumes of pallets rather than solitary large items.
“But Engel are a long-term client, with whom we enjoy a close working relationship, and when we heard about their predicament we were more than happy to be of service.
“We have the expertise and ability to deliver a wide range of palletised freight and it was actually one of the shorter trips we’ve undertaken for Engel as we often transport items between the UK and Austria on their behalf.”
Exact Logistics, which delivers across the UK, Ireland and Europe, first started working with Engel when they were near neighbours before moving to Rugby.
Mark Warden, supplies and logistics supervisor at Engel UK, said: “It was initially Exact Logistics proximity which led to us using their services, but since that time we have enjoyed a good working relationship with them.
“When we needed help transporting this table we did not hesitate to make contact with Exact Logistics.
“They said they would get it here successfully and they picked it up and delivered it exactly as they said they would, so we are really happy.”
