Miller & Carter has beaten off meaty competition to be crowned the ultimate steak champion in The Mailbox’s Great British Steak Off.
It was a close call for sous chef Matt Janes, who challenged chefs from both Malmaison and Café Rouge to walk away with the title in The Great British Steak Off. All three venues, who will be giving away free food samples at The Taste of The Mailbox this weekend, rustled up a tasty fillet steak for a panel of three hungry journalist judges. In the end it was Matt’s knowledge, presentation and cooking skills that brought them to their unanimous decision to crown him the winner.
Matt Janes, sous chef at Miller & Carter in The Mailbox, said: “I’m delighted to have won The Mailbox’s first Great British Steak Off competition. I put everything I had into the challenge and I’m pleased the judges could see my genuine passion shine through and that they enjoyed what they tasted. Hopefully The Mailbox visitors will enjoy my food just as much this weekend!”
Tarah Hewitt, marketing manager at The Mailbox, said: “Each of the venues put on a fantastic show for our panel of judges but in the end Matt was the worthy winner. The calibre of food that each venue delivered shows what fantastic talent The Mailbox has across its restaurants, but our visitors can decide for themselves whose food they like best with our free samples at The Taste of The Mailbox this weekend.”
