Lighting Reality, the Birmingham-based experts in design software applications for outdoor and street lighting, has appointed an Australian agency to drive the next phase of its growth in the southern hemisphere.
Dragon Lighting, located in Perth, the capital of Western Australia, will spearhead the firm’s expansion into Australia, New Zealand, Indonesia, Papua New Guinea and Singapore.
The firm is run by well-known lighting engineer David Hale who previously worked for Blaenau Gwent County Borough Council before moving to Australia to take up a post as electrical project engineer for the City of Joondalup in Western Australia.
Tony Cook, Chief Operating Officer at Lighting Reality, said: “David is the perfect choice for us. He knows our flagship product Lighting Reality PRO inside out as he has been using it himself for several years.
“He is excited about the new versions that we are set to introduce to the market in 2019 and as a long time user is the best advocate we could have.”
David Hale said: “Since making the move to Australia I have quite naturally kept in touch with Lighting Reality as I am avid fan of their products.
“So it was a natural progression to take the discussion on to the idea of representing Lighting Reality’s export push in this part of the world.
“I am delighted Lighting Reality has put its faith in Dragon Lighting and we look forward to spreading the word and ‘lighting up’ the market.”
Since its launch in 2001, the firm’s Lighting Reality PRO is now used by around 97.5 per cent of British municipalities and the company estimates that around 90 per cent of lighting engineers in the UK own a copy.
Lighting Reality has become the market leading specialist in outdoor and street lighting and is now established as the UK’s first choice among lighting manufacturers and local authorities for its dedicated software solutions for lighting engineers.
Innovation is the company’s trademark, driven by its philosophy of “Quick Easy Intuitive”, and Lighting Reality pioneered the first luminaire optimiser on the market.
Its flagship product, Lighting Reality PRO, is now available to lighting designers worldwide, and the appointment of Dragon Lighting is the first phase in the company’s new global strategy and the first step in its new export programme.
