A famous Midland canalside pub restaurant is bringing a touch of Italian sunshine to Staffordshire.
The Plum Pudding in Armitage is holding an Italian gourmet evening on May 25 to showcase some of the restaurant’s Italian classics. Guests will get six courses, with a glass of prossecco to start and coffee to finish.
The Plum Pudding, in Rugeley Road, Armitage, on the banks of the Trent and Mersey canal has been serving Italian cuisine for nearly five yearsunder the stewardship of owner and chef Giuseppe Iaconi.
He said he wanted people in the region to sample the fine foods of his homeland in the Le Marche region of Italy on the Adriatic side of Umbria and Tuscany.
“We have had very successful Italian gourmet evenings in the past, so this event is becoming well-established. We are expecting it to be popular so booking is essential,” he said.
Giuseppe Iaconi was born and raised in the small hill town of Ripatransone between the Adriatic and the Apennine mountains. He spent his life immersed in the region’s cooking, which is peasant inspired using the finest fresh ingredients.
