Hereford events venue says ‘I do’ to expansion

A luxury Hereford-based events venue has expanded its services and created four new jobs, after redeveloping a barn on its 15 acre site.

Dewsall Court became an events venue in 2010 after the Robinson family decided to convert their home into a luxury destination for weddings and parties. Since its inception the venue has built a strong reputation with clients across the country, proving a hit with celebrities such as Mark Strong, Sarah Parish and Rosamund Pike.

With support of a £800,000 funding package from Lloyds Bank Commercial Banking the family has redeveloped a previously open sided barn on the estate, installing retractable glass sides to enable the barn to be used for functions all year round.

The funding has also helped support the building of a new extension, which contains a bar for guests and a state-of-the-art-kitchen which will cater for most events held at Dewsall Court. As a result of the expansion the firm expects bookings to increase by 25 per cent over the next year, and is expected to achieve a turnover of £900,000 by the end of 2016.

The company will also increase staff at the site to deal with the rise in demand, creating four new permanent positions and additional 15 temporary jobs per event.

Samantha Vaughan, director at Dewsall Court, said: “Everyone who has come to view the barn has been bowled over by the development and we have managed to make the building functional all year round while retaining its unique original features.

“The investment has also allowed us to bring our catering facilities in house, and we now have a state-of-the-art kitchen facility which can cater for up to 175 guests, an increase of a third.

“When we first spoke to Lloyds Bank, we could immediately see that the team recognised the potential benefits that the development could offer the business, and felt they really took the time to understand the company and our ambitions.”

Mark Smith, relationship director at Lloyds Bank Commercial Banking, said: “Dewsall Court is a unique venue, and the recent redevelopment will enable the owners to host events all year round.

“From seeing the property for the first time it was obvious the investment was essential to guarantee that the business could continue to grow over the coming years, and we worked quickly and closely with the family to ensure that they had the tailored support needed to allow them to complete the project to the highest possible standard.

“We are dedicated to supporting businesses, like Dewsall Court, which are constantly exploring ways they can expand the services on offer to clients, which is why we have pledged to increase lending to small businesses.”
