Festival warm-up event to raise funds for city hospice

Chewie performs at Woo Fest Warm Up 2018

Festival organisers are inviting guests to enjoy a night of music in support of St Richard’s Hospice.

The Woo Fest Warm Up takes place at The Marrs Bar, Pierpoint Street, Worcester, on Friday, 29th March from 7.30pm.

On the line-up of bands are Chewie, In Evolution, The Leaking Machine and Speak, Brother – with proceeds from the event donated to the Worcester-based hospice.

Luke Simons, Festival Organiser, said: “Ahead of this year’s main festival, we have a fantastic night of live music planned for our Woo Fest Warm Up – with all proceeds going to the hospice.

“We expect lots of people there, joining in fundraising and enjoying live music.

“We are excited for our fifth year of Woo Fest. It has been a great journey so far, with more and more people getting involved – and more money being raised for St Richard’s Hospice!”

Claire James, Hospice Fundraiser, said: “We can’t wait for the Woo Fest Warm Up event – it is set to be a great night of entertainment.

“We are very grateful to the festival team for all its incredibly hard work in supporting our hospice care.”

Tickets to the warm-up event are £7.50 in advance or £10 on the door. To book tickets, visit: www.strichards.org.uk/woo-fest-warm-up.

Last year’s Woo Fest festival raised more than £12,000 for St Richard’s Hospice. It was also a finalist in two categories at the UK Festival Awards.

Woo Fest 2019 takes place at The Drum and Monkey, in Upton upon Severn, on Saturday, 6th July. For more information, visit: www.woo-fest.com.

St Richard’s Hospice cares for adults with a serious progressive illness, improving their quality of life from diagnosis, during treatment and to their last days. It also supports their loved ones.

Each year the hospice team supports more than 3,300 patients, family members and bereaved people in Worcestershire.

St Richard’s is an independent charity and relies on donations for three quarters of its annual £8.8m income with the remainder from the NHS.

The hospice is also raising funds for the Build 2020 Appeal and is part way through developing a bigger hospice, enabling more patients and families to be cared for in Worcestershire.  The total cost for expanding and redeveloping the existing building in Wildwood Drive, Worcester, is £5.3m.
