Two new trainees have joined the ranks of one of the East Midlands leading chartered accountants, Newby Castleman.

Amal Bathia (19) and Anil Kumar Dhain (22) have joined the Leicester-based office following their academic studies at Beauchamp College and University of Leicester respectively.

Both from Oadby, Amal and Anil started with Newby Castleman at the beginning of September and were selected from hundreds of applicants who applied looking to break into the accountancy profession.

Amal gained A-Levels in Maths, Accountancy and Business at college and applied for the three year trainee position at Newby Castleman after seeing it advertised at the college. He comments, “I have always wanted to get into the finance industry and so when I saw the advertisement for the role with Newby Castleman I applied straight away and I was excited to be given the opportunity. It seemed like the best route for me as it would mean going into a working environment as soon as I left college and I would avoid expensive university fees.

I am now looking forward to studying towards my AAT accountancy qualification and have so far enjoyed getting to grips with company accounts within the audit and accounts department.”

Anil joined the firm after gaining a Masters Degree in Mathematics and applied for the trainee role for the opportunity to work at one of the region’s biggest chartered accountancy branches. He is now studying towards the ACA qualification to become a chartered accountant and comments, “Working for a large local firm has always been my aim and I am thrilled to be able to now say I work at Newby Castleman. The work so far has been really enjoyable and I can’t wait to progress and develop my skills over the next few years.”

Stephen Castleman, Training Partner at Newby Castleman, says, “Once again we are delighted to have given two young people the opportunity to progress within a working environment. Today’s job market is getting tougher and so we are proud to offer the opportunity for on-the-job learning and, as with previous graduates and school leavers that have come to us over the years, we hope Amal and Anil will go on to play significant roles in the firm’s future.”
