Coventry’s leading jewellers is expecting to expand its workforce after opening a new Pandora store in the city centre.
Francis & Gaye Jewellers was established in 1990 by Roger Francis and Alan Gay and the family-run business continues to run its high quality jewellery store from the West Orchards Shopping Centre.
The forward-thinking business has also started operating a Pandora concept store from the Lower Precinct Shopping Centre after receiving advice about the transaction from Midlands-wide Baldwins Accountants.
Eight full-time staff are employed at Pandora which may increase this year after the success of its opening.
Elaine Francis, of Francis & Gaye Jewellers, said: “We have specialised in diamond and precious stone rings, necklaces, earrings, bracelets and charms for nearly 25 years which included Pandora jewellery and opening the Pandora concept store was a natural progression.
“The response has been phenomenal. Customers were queuing to get into the shop in the countdown to Christmas and we employed more staff than usual to cope with the demand.
“We might employ more people this year if the shop continues to be really busy because Pandora jewellery is a phenomenon.
“We have built our reputation on providing first-class products and a highly professional service and that will continue to be the case at the Pandora concept store.
“We have an excellent working relationship with Baldwins Accountants and it is vital you have faith in your auditors as well as their advice and I feel we have had the back-up we have needed over more than two decades.”
Following Roger and Alan’s retirements, the business is run by the Francis family and director James Harrison, who manages the West Orchards Shopping Centre shop and has been with the company for 19 years and he is a qualified professional jeweller.
Mark Francis, who graduated from the Gemological Institute of America in Carlsbad, California, with one of the most highly respected qualifications in the jewellery industry, runs Francis & Gaye Jewellers in Highcross Shopping Centre in Leicester with his wife, Shari, and his sister, Samantha, and they have both passed the NAG Professional Jewellers Diploma.
Zoe Walsh, a partner at Baldwins Accountants in Binley Road, Binley, Coventry, said the company had been Francis & Gaye’s auditors for 21 years.
She said: “We were pro-active throughout the deal to secure the Pandora concept store on all accountancy aspects.
“Pandora is a hugely successful brand across the globe and with the expertise and knowledge of everyone involved in Francis & Gaye, the store is certain to be a success to complement their existing shops in the West Orchards Shopping Centre and Highcross Shopping Centre.”
