A married couple who own two of Tamworth’s small but fast growing town centre businesses have been recognised at the highest level by their individual industries.  Tracy Pound, Managing Director of MaximITy has been named PCR’s Woman of the Year and her husband Peter Robinson, Managing Director of independent insurance broker Prizm Solutions is celebrating winning the Bluefin Network Star Broker Award 2016.

Neither of these national awards were entered into or applied for.  Both were a great surprise to Tracy and Peter who, when they attended separate industry events, found they had been nominated for and had won these prestigious awards.

PCR is the trade magazine for the UK’s PC and Tech Industries with a monthly readership of over 80,000.  The magazine hosts the PCR Women of The Year Awards with the biggest award of the event being PCR Woman of the Year, which this year recognised Tracy’s outstanding career in IT and in particular her contribution to the UK tech industry by encouraging more women into careers in IT.  Tracy was nominated for this celebrated award by a Director of international IT trade association CompTIA.

Prizm Solutions are members of the Bluefin Network, an organisation backed by AXA UK plc and part of one of the largest financial services companies in the world.  Annually Bluefin asks the major insurance companies such as Aviva, LV, AXA and RSA who are the best UK insurance brokers to deal with, brokers that have grown and brokers that offer an outstanding level of quality and customer service.  This year they voted Tamworth’s Prizm Solutions to be the best!

Peter Robinson said “At first I was astonished that these huge insurance companies had voted Prizm Solutions the Star Broker of the year, but then I thought wait a minute.  We have grown every year, and we really care about our customers and we know we make a difference when they need to make a claim.  So, I am very pleased that this, and our professionalism when dealing with the big insurers has been recognised.” Peter, an insurance expert with over 30 years’ experience continued, “I wish more brokers felt like we do, and that’s the purpose of insurance is to be there to ‘save the day’ when things go wrong for people.  It’s not just about taking premiums.”

Tracy Pound, who is also a member of CompTIA’s Board of Directors often finds herself in this role presenting to IT mega-companies such as Apple and Google, but she has stuck to MaximITy’s key principals of supporting small businesses with IT know-how and inspiring women into IT.  “Winning the PCR Woman of the Year Award means a great deal to me as a woman in IT.” Says Tracy, “I hope that it will show other women that IT is a great career choice and you can make it in this industry.  You don’t have to have a degree and you don’t have to be good at maths to have a great career.  What the IT industry needs is women with sound management skills, creativity and empathy.”

Tracy and Peter are a well-known and respected business couple in the Tamworth, Lichfield and Midlands area.  Although both have extremely busy schedules, and a family to bring up, they give their spare time willingly to Young Enterprise and the local BID group, are involved in running local business events and supporting local charities such as County Air Ambulance.
