Businesses in the pink with Stripey Pig!

A Shropshire couple have launched a new venture which aims to help small businesses save money on their telecommunications.

Steve Bellerby and Jenny Smith (pictured) already run a successful cost reduction consultancy in Newport working with big name brands such as EasyJet and Biffa on slashing their utility and communication bills

Now the pair who live in Newport are directing their vast knowledge of the telecoms industry gained over 16 years into a new business called Stripey Pig. With quirky pink pig branding and a website which is attracting many hits, new clients are already enjoying savings on their mobile phone, broadband and data packages.

Steve, a former Royal Signals officer, said: “At Smith Bellerby we have been lucky enough to win awards and support large corporates in achieving tangible benefits year-on-year, but we started small and after 16 years we wanted to give back to the local business community and help small firms to reduce overheads.

“Too often they can fall into the trap of paying too much for their phones and dealers don’t help with overly complex tariffs and hidden charges, in fact over the years I’ve been astounded at the different ways that telecom networks and dealers have of hiding charges in the fine detail of their monthly bills.

“There is usually a lot of meaningless jargon bandied about and I’ve seen how having one point of contact for all voice and data communications, all billed on a single monthly invoice, can simplify and save money for larger companies.

“Now small businesses can benefit from this expertise. Every pound we save them will add to increased profitability, growth and more local jobs.”

Steve added: “We’ve been handling mobile phone fleets for large corporates for years but this allows us to get back to dealing with businesses here in Shropshire in a friendly manner, with a bit of fun thrown in for good measure, hence Stripey Pig and our aim is to simplify communications, banish hidden charges and save them time and money.”
