A culture of excellence, innovation and safety at East Midlands firm AR Demolition has resulted in a clean sweep of shortlistings with a leading industry awards competition.
The management team at AR Demolition entered six categories in the 2019 Construction News Specialists Awards and the shortlists were revealed this month.
The company was unique in making the cut of every category it entered, being shortlisted for all six awards – more than any other entrant. The final ceremony takes place in London in February.
Among the awards AR Demolition was shortlisted for was Project of the Year up to £1m in value, for the outstanding work in demolishing the Broadmarsh Bus Station and Car Park in Nottingham.
The project saw the facility demolished with zero disruption to surrounding businesses and communities, with no dust pollution and 99% of materials arising being recycled.
AR Demolition has also made the final of the contractor Innovation of the Year category, for its high-reach ‘dust boss’ machine which eliminates dust pollution by using a high-tech misting system.
Other categories in which the company was nominated are: for excellence in Health, Safety and Wellbeing; excellence in Training; excellence in Digital Innovation; and for Demolition Specialist of the Year.
The culture at AR Demolition, which is based in the village of Carlton near Nuneaton, has been led by QHSE Director Michael Henderson, by Development Director Patricia Sloneczny and by Managing Director Richard Dolman, who founded the company in 2008. The company’s senior team has also expanded with the addition of a new Operations Director Matthew Burrow.
Mr Dolman said: “We’ve had a landmark year at AR Demolition. Following some significant investment in new machinery we are looking forward to the future with great confidence.
“In May we were named in the ‘1000 Companies To Inspire Britain’ report, released annually by the London Stock Exchange Group. Now we find ourselves shortlisted in every category in which we entered in the Construction News Specialists Awards.
“Even to be shortlisted for all these categories are an amazing result and we will look forward to the awards ceremony in February.
“In the meantime, we will enjoy Christmas and look forward to continuing our work in 2019, developing our company into a new type of demolition contractor, one where quality, safety and innovation – particularly in terms of sustainability and recruitment – are placed at the forefront.”
Last month AR Demolition reported the best ever start to a year, with record turnover and profits in the first half of 2018.
In the six month period to July the company saw turnover rise by 54% compared to the same period in 2017, with year-on-year gross profit increasing by 18%.
The figures follow significant investment in new plant and machinery, including £1.5m spent on three new cutting-edge high reach machines last year after previous investment of £1m in 2016.
