Amillan installs UK’s first Microsoft Lync 2013 voice deployment

The UK’s first Lync 2013 voice deployment has been implemented by Microsoft Gold Partner Amillan for Muddy Boots Software.

Muddy Boots, a leading expert in the provision of traceability and quality assurance solutions for sustainable food and farming, had outgrown its existing telephony solution and turned to Amillan to implement Microsoft Lync UC solution and migrate its voice platform. Amillan carefully designed and project-managed the solution, rolling out the first Lync 2013 voice deployment in the UK in the space of just three weeks.

“After Amillan provided full demonstrations both at our offices and at their exhibition suite in Solihull, we knew that Lync was the solution we wanted, and Amillan was the right technology partner for us,” said Adrian Darby, chief architect at Muddy Boots.

“The migration of our voice platform was simple. Amillan managed the whole implementation seamlessly and we’re really pleased at how smooth a transition it was,” Darby continues. “We wanted not only a new voice solution, but to implement unified communications to enable a more collaborative and flexible way of working. In keeping with our line of business, we’re in a relatively rural location and Lync will enable the Muddy Boots workforce to work remotely with staff visiting customer sites, travelling globally, or working from home during difficult weather conditions whilst ensuring continuous service to our customers.”

Amillan deployed Lync 2013 voice for 60 users, adding new SIP lines and implemented federation to enable the workforce to get closer collaboration with partners, customers and suppliers. The solution was also integrated into Sharepoint to allow skills-based routing, further enhancing customer service and staff efficiency.

Richard Reid, director at Amillan, said, “Amillan is pleased to boast the first Lync 2013 voice deployment, and proud to have been selected by Muddy Boots – a Microsoft Gold Partner in their own field – to provide the solution to enhance their communications capabilities and, ultimately, their business.

“The real value of Amillan is the careful planning and execution of our projects, with constant liaison and consultation with our clients to ensure that the solution provided is exactly what they required, and the transition is precisely executed.”
