Amadeus shortlisted for FSM award!

Amadeus has been announced as a finalist in the Sports and Leisure category for the 2013 FSM Awards. The winner will be announced on Monday 25th November when over 450 of the food service management elite will gather to celebrate the industry leading lights.

Amadeus operates at a range of major sports and leisure events, and venues including: the, the LG Arena, the NIA, the Aberdeen Asset Scottish Open, Lawn Tennis Association Eastbourne and Edgbaston, Ricoh Women’s British Open and last year operated Olympic Park North at the Games.

The announcement comes after Amadeus successfully provided catering services at 41 venue events and six major outdoor events during one of its busiest summers on record, spanning the length and breadth of the country from Inverness in the Scottish Highlands to Eastbourne on the UK’s south coast.

Earlier this year Amadeus also conducted a major refit of the hospitality restaurant, Air at the LG Arena, one of its venues which is often used for sporting events, and brought in a new general manager. The extensive refit meant exciting new menus with a real focus on local sourcing, award winning suppliers and provenance messages, and a five star dining experience.

As well as the Air restaurant, Amadeus operate catering kiosks at the LG Arena, collectively known as Forum Live, offering food and live entertainment as a warm up to the main event. Amadeus is looking to introduce a street food theme to one side of the Forum working with the likes of Old El Paso and Mumbai Streets, and a ‘best of British’ theme to the other areas.

Due to an increase in events at the LG Arena during June and July, this year saw a formerly unused outside area developed into a space that could be used by everyone and would make some additional revenue – the Outside Inn with a hog roast and bar was born! At all eight events the area was used for the hog roast completely sold out. The team are now looking at a winter option for The Outside Inn and plan to implement live music and deckchairs next summer.

The National Indoor Arena (NIA), another of Amadeus’ home venues, is also undergoing a major redevelopment at a cost of £26m. Work is due to be completed in 2015 and will result in enhanced hospitality, including an additional 200 covers and a full hospitality experience to rival the LG Arena Air package will be introduced, in addition to quality, provenance led food and beverage offers and seven-days-a-week retail outlets, all of which will add value to the visitor experience.

As well as committing to improving the quality of existing offerings, Amadeus are planning to further extend their sports and leisure catering portfolio with a number of exciting new opportunities in the pipeline.
