Towcester based heating, cooling and ventilation contractor, ACS (UK) Ltd have scooped a leading award at the inaugural Green Gateway Awards, held at Twickenham Stadium on Thursday 3rd October.
The award presented by Mitsubishi Electric, was for ACS (UK) Ltd’s work for the Connells Estate Agency Group.
Martin Fahey, Sustainable Solutions Manager for Mitsubishi Electric is seen presenting the award to David Knibbs, Managing Director, ACS (UK) Ltd and Neil Moran, Commercial Director ACS (UK) Ltd.
The Green Gateway Awards are the brain child of market leading manufacturer, Mitsubishi Electric and are designed to both promote and reward projects that increase efficiency, reduce carbon and promote the renewables industry. ACS (UK) Ltd was chosen for this year’s award because of the impact their work had on The Connells Group business.
The chosen project, designed by ACS (UK) Ltd to replace air conditioning refrigerant gases across over 200 of Connells estate agency branches, has led the Connells Group to achieve estimated running cost savings of over £150,000 a year, whilst cutting carbon emissions in each branch by half.
The replacement of the soon to be banned R22 refrigerant gas used in air conditioning equipment, was planned well enough in advance by ACS (UK) Ltd and Connells, to ensure the end user could maximise both cost savings and energy efficiencies from their upgraded systems.
Martin Fahey speaking on the recognition for ACS (UK) Ltd’s work “What ACS has done is work with its customer to develop a planned schedule of R22 gas replacement that fits in with Connells’ business plans. “We wanted to recognise the success of this approach and acknowledge the fact that ACS has highlighted how savings can be achieved by planning to be more efficient.”
Neil Moran, Commercial Director ACS (UK) Ltd commented on the work for the Connells Group, “ACS and Connells have been working together since 2000 and they are a long standing and invaluable client to our business.” “Their estate had a real mix of equipment from all the major air conditioning manufacturers, due to the historic development and expansion of the Group. We undertook an initial assessment of ten branches to produce a detailed report comparing the potential savings of a phased replacement programme against the likely repair and running costs of existing kit. The subsequent report led to approval for a phased replacement programme across 203 branches nationwide.”
R22 refrigerant gas replacement is expected to be an important news topic for business next year as from the end of 2014, regulations which are already in place, making it unlawful to service or maintain air conditioning systems using an R22 refrigerant gas.
Commenting on the accolade, David Knibbs, Managing Director ACS (UK Ltd) added, “It’s a real pleasure to receive this award as it reflects not just the hard work of our team, but the commitment of our client, the Connells Group and Mitsubishi Electric’s continued focus on promoting R22 refrigerant gas replacement in 2013 and 2014.”
As part of the aware, ACS (UK) Ltd also received a cheque for £1,000 from Mitsubishi Electric and have chosen to donate the money to The Dunstone Bennett Centre in Northampton. (more information to follow in separate release).
