From small acorns great oak trees grow and from new business start-ups, hugely successful companies flourish. One Redditch based firm is testament to that having completed its first year at its Washford Industrial Estate base establishing a solid foundation for growth.
But it’s roof trusses and joists rather than foundations that Scotts Timber Engineering (STE) has been producing at a fantastic rate as housebuilding in the UK continues to rise.
Founded with the backing of 96-year-old parent company Scotts of Thrapston, STE has spent its first year in Redditch growing from three employees to 18, manufacturing 20,000 metres of joists and 17,000 roof trusses. The company delivers to national housebuilders, building contractors and self-builders across the central region of England.
Director, Richard Jarvis, says 2015 was a brilliant start for the company.
“Finding a new home for STE wasn’t a quick or easy task but we are delighted to have chosen Redditch and have made significant advances since we arrived here,” he said.
“Once the manufacturing equipment was installed we quickly grew the business from the handful of customers we arrived with. I’m thrilled to say that we’re still working with those customers, and have added to that core base with customers from as far afield as Sheffield, London, Bristol and everywhere in between.
“Our high levels of service, excellent quality and endeavour to exceed our clients’ needs all combine to see our customers coming back time and time again. They know they have a supplier that can deliver on time and to budget, but can also be flexible to meet their needs on site when timings can be altered at short notice.
“The local workforce has been fantastic, which we’ve increased six-fold employing additional designers, office administration staff, delivery drivers, production staff and directors, and I predict that more jobs will come in the near future. We’re making great strides but we have some way to go before we reach our potential. There is capacity within production and we have ambitious plans for growing our customer base.
“The next 12 months will be just as exciting as we look to build on our product mix with new offerings and invest in additional machinery and building systems.”
