Martin Blunos returns to Leekes of Coventry to present festive culinary demonstraions in the store’s dedicated live Cookery Theatre
Martin Blunos, whose talents in the kitchen earned him two Michelin stars, will be sharing his top tips for creating the perfect Christmas feast at Leekes of Coventry this weekend.
On Saturday 8th December, the top chef will take over Leekes’ dedicated in-store Cookery Theatre at intervals between 11am and 3pm, with a series of festive-themed culinary demonstrations. Visitors to the family-run home department store, located off Junction 3 of the M6 near to the Ricoh Arena, will be able to sample Blunos’ finished dishes and will get the chance to grill the chef on how they can emulate his skills at home.
Martin Blunos, hailed as one of the country’s leading chefs when he won critical acclaim at Lettonie in Bristol and then in Bath, has a host of television credits to his name including Channel 4’s Iron Chef UK, Masterchef Australia and Channel 4’s Cookery School.
Emma Leeke, Managing Director at Leekes of Coventry, said: “We’re very excited to welcome Martin back to the store as part of our festive celebrations. At the opening of the store in September Martin’s live cooking demonstrations were very well-received by our customers, which is why we’ve invited him back as an early Christmas presents to Coventry residents.
“Cooking a Christmas dinner can often be a minefield but we’re sure Martin will have lots of hints and tips under his chef’s hat to help take the stress out of the day. What’s more, as the Midland’s biggest home department store, we pride ourselves on offering everything needed for the home under one roof – so you can be sure to squeeze in some Christmas shopping during your visit.”
Already feeling right at home in Coventry, Leekes opened the doors to its brand new 185,000 sq ft store for the first time in September following a £6 million investment, making it the largest department store within a 50 mile radius.
In the run up to Christmas, Leekes will be open from 9am to 8pm Monday to Friday, 9am to 6pm on Saturday and 10.30am to 4.30pm on Sunday with Santa in store every weekend until Christmas.
Those wanting to take a sneaky peak at the store before visiting now can, as Leekes has worked in conjunction with internet giant Google to take photographs inside the department store as part of a new programme called Google Business Photos which allows viewers to extend their Google Maps ‘Street View’ journey right inside the store.
Other Leekes Home Department Stores can be found in Bilston, Wolverhampton; Melksham in Wiltshire and Llantrisant and Cross Hands in South Wales, as well as a furniture store in Fenton, Stoke on Trent.
