A new agency is being launched next week offering for the first time PR & photography services for businesses looking to reach UK audiences via marketing channels such as social media, SEO, direct marketing and traditional public relations activity.
The agency, picpr, has been set-up by brothers David and James Barrett. David has over 10 years experience working in PR, whilst James has been a photojournalist for nearly 7 years. The two have now joined forces, combining their skills, contacts and experiences to create picpr.
David Barrett, Managing Director at picpr, explains a bit more behind the launch of the new agency: “A lot of my time is spent talking to journalists, who are always asking for high quality pictures to accompany the words being submitted or the words they are putting together.
“However, clients either don’t have any good photography to hand, don’t want to pay any extra to get a professional photographer in, or the journalists themselves can’t justify sending out a good photographer due to time and costs, which can be really frustrating for all. So to overcome this hurdle, and as part of our offering at picpr, for all retained clients, we provide photography every month at no extra cost.”
David has worked on a number of leading brands over the years, working both in-house and agency side, managing their PR and marketing activities. Whilst James’ photography has taken him to such extreme locations as North Korea, and his pictures have also been used to support editorial copy for leading UK and European media outlets, as well as lifestyle magazines further abroad.
David adds: “Essentially James does what I do but in pictures. So picpr is an agency that puts together well-written words and professional photography to make sure the marketing activities adopted by clients deliver. We have already got a great team in place, made up of experienced photographers, PR specialists, and digital experts, offering an array of services.”
The services that picpr provide are:
• picmedia – working with the press
• picsocial – consultancy or/and management of social media activity
• picseo – developing search engine optimisation content
• picdirect – providing assistance with direct comms activity
• picimage – producing engaging pictures
David comments: “All services interlink with each other, particularly the fifth service (picimage) which can support the other four throughout any campaign. For example pictures can be used on client newsletters and websites, instead of using the usual generic istock images, which don’t represent brands as best they could.
“Pictures can also be tweeted about, tagged appropriately to increase SEO and used to support case studies, news stories, feature articles etc etc. And of course we provide all the words, so all the client needs to do is tell us who it is they are trying to reach and we will reach them.”
