Private businesses from across the West Midlands are being urged
to secure formal recognition of their achievements through a
national awards scheme.
Sponsored by PwC and HSBC, the Private Business Awards have been
established to celebrate the most successful companies and
individuals operating in the private sector. The awards are
being officially launched today and nominations are invited.
The Voting Panel for this year's Private Business Awards is made
up of leading industry experts including Miriam Gonzalez Durantez,
Partner at Dechert, Alison Lees, Partner at PwC and Charlie
Hoffman, Managing Director at HSBC Private Bank (UK) Ltd. Two new
awards for 2012 will also be announced: the Rising Star Award which
will champion vision, strong leadership and growth strategies, and
the Exporter of the Year Award which will celebrate a strong and
growing presence in overseas markets.
Chris Romans, partner and private business expert at PwC in the
Midlands, said: "Private businesses are vital to our economy, both
regionally and nationally and it is important that their
achievements are noticed and celebrated.
"Last year, a fantastic variety of great quality, diversified
and innovative companies were nominated in the region and we hope
that there will be more this year."
The inaugural event, which took place in September 2011, saw the
likes of GoCompare, Wates Group, Monsoon and Dyson honoured at a
ceremony attended by over 350 of the UK's leading business owners,
CEOs and entrepreneurs. Midlands-based Samworth Brothers, a
Leicestershire-based food manufacturer, won the award of Family
Business of the Year. Mark Samworth is also a member of the Voting
Panel for this year's awards.
A full list of award categories, criteria and the online
nomination form is accessible on the event's website,

Thursday 6 September 2012 at a gala dinner to be held at The Royal
Opera House.
