2012 promises the largest shake up in employment law for decades
and Midlands businesses were given peace of mind over their
employment concerns this week as lawyers from Weightmans LLP gave
tips and advice at the firm's latest HR Rely Employment Law
Briefing.
Presented by members of the Weightmans HR Rely team at the
firm's Birmingham office, the morning event gave HR practitioners
at local businesses the opportunity to hear straight from the
experts how the latest regulations would affect them, followed by a
roundtable discussion where they had the opportunity to find the
answers to the employee issues that are bothering them the
most.
From the latest developments in TUPE to discrimination issues,
the team covered a number of employment matters that directly
affect their clients on a day to day basis.
Jane Cox, Partner in the Midlands Employment law team at
Weightmans said:
"Our seminar was a great success and helped us to pinpoint the
common concerns that unite our members.
"Whilst HR practitioners are well versed in employment law, the
continuous changes can be overwhelming and the seminar was just
part of the service that we offer to make any implementation of new
regulations as easy as possible."
Attendees were impressed with the seminar. Julie McGee, HR
Manager at Federal-Mogul said:
"The Employment Law Update was very interesting, informative and
covered a wide range of items which was very beneficial to our
company. The Weightmans team was very friendly and helpful
following the update."
In addition, Ian Bailey, HR Manager at Halfords Autocentres
said:
"You get straightforward and no nonsense advice and support from
someone who knows your business."
Andrew Forrest, Associate at Weightmans and a member of the HR
Rely team added:
"Employers are keen to ensure they are following the rules and
the seminar was very well-attended as a result. There is only so
much information you can be given through handbooks and every case
is different - that's why our HR Rely service is so popular - all
members have to do is pick up the phone to get advice and
assistance."
