Hereford United players jumped at the opportunity to support a
group of local fundraisers.
Employees from St Owens Street based Pertemps People Development
Group (PPDG) were part of a team raising a grand total of
£3,050 for Macmillan Cancer Support through a series of
fundraising events and a group of the 'Whites' players took time
out to encourage the hardworking team.
From cake baking to leg waxing, PPDG employees did everything
they could to raise money for a very worthy cause. Sue Dean
(pictured) even organised a fundraising night at the Hereford Welsh
Social Club raising a total of £633 that was split between
Macmillans and local hospice St Michaels.
"We have been raising money for Macmillans at the Hereford
office here for some years now," explained Mrs Dean.
"Most people know of someone who has benefited from the charity
and it is our aim to keep raising money for a charity that
definitely puts it to good use."
PPDG encourages staff to get involved with local fundraising and
is extremely proud of its extensive community support programme.
Donations from the fund recently surpassed the £150,000
milestone of giving back through payroll donations since its launch
in 2004.
Natalie Bridge, Fundraising Manager for Macmillan Cancer Support
in the West Midlands insisted that the tireless efforts of the Here
staff would enable the charity to continue its excellent work in
the area.
"We are delighted to hear that the team has raised in excess of
£3,000," said the regional officer. "This amount of money
will keep a Macmillan information and support centre stocked with
all the information resources it needs to support people affected
by cancer for a whole year.
"Such resources provide a vital lifeline to cancer sufferers so
we would like to say a huge thank you to the girls and everyone
else who got involved in helping this year's Coffee Morning to be
bigger and better than ever."
