Business Development Manager Sue Davis from East Midlands-based
Alltruck plc has secured a prestigious role as one of just 250 Area
Managers for the 2012 Olympics.
Over 30,000 people originally applied for a voluntary role at
the Olympics and Sue has the full backing of her company as
Alltruck's MD Paul Robinson explains. "Landing such a prestigious
role is a reinforcement of Sue's management and leadership skills
and initiative. We are committed to investing in and developing our
team here at Alltruck and are fully supportive of Sue and very
proud of her achievement."
Alltruck plc provides truck and commercial vehicle solutions;
including contract hire and rental - supported by the company's own
workshops throughout the East Midlands. While the Olympics is a
one-off, the support that Sue has received from Alltruck represents
the company's commitment to its employees through its 'New
Framework Challenge', the result of becoming an Investor in People.
Alltruck continues to work with emb-x - the organisation that
delivers the Investors in People service for Central England - as
it aims for recognition beyond The Standard towards Investors in
People Gold status.
As Area Manager Sue will be responsible for managing a team of
volunteers and will form a central part of the behind-the-scenes
operation that will help make the Olympics a global success. She
will be learning new skills as well as utilising her expertise in
communication, leadership and team management. To carry out her
role, Sue is taking a total of 20 days' leave from Alltruck with
the full support of the company directors. "Sue's work on the
Olympics will obviously have an impact on our day-to-day activities
but this really is a 'once in a lifetime' opportunity that cannot
be missed," says Paul.
Sue is excited about her new role and is looking forward to
2012. "This is a great opportunity and I am delighted to have made
it through the selection process. The skills I have developed in my
day-to-day work at Alltruck will certainly stand me in good stead.
I know the team here is behind me and I am looking forward to the
challenge."
"The link with the Olympics seems doubly fitting as the
investment in Sue and wider initiatives across the business are all
part of our goal to achieve the Investors in People Gold standard"
explains Paul. "We are committed to enabling our people to develop
their skills and being part of this major, international event will
provide fantastic personal development opportunities for Sue as
well as benefiting us in terms of the skills and experience that
Sue will bring back to the business."
