The drpgroup are seeing the benefits of their continued
dedication towards sustainability and environmental responsibility
after measures implemented across the business in 2011 helped the
group save over £5,500 internally and a staggering
£62,455 for their clients. The initiatives, from the very
small like the rolling back of vinyl and banner material in print
machines to larger projects such as replacing event registration
procedures with fully online registration portals from the digital
team, also saved 30.8 trees worth of paper.
"The company were keen to make sustainability 'real' says Dale
Parmenter Group MD "At the start of 2011 we set every department a
challenge to come up with at least one tangible and measurable
sustainable improvement. The team really got behind the challenge
and the results were staggering"
The drpgroup became the first business of its kind in the world
to receive certified accreditation in both ISO:14001 and BS8901
environmental management standards in 2010, retaining the certified
accreditation in 2011 with a more measurement focused approach.
This saw the team record their actions yielding some eye opening
figures about the impact of environmental responsibility on a
business.
Sam Wilson, managing director of Eco Events, the drpgroup's
sustainability and environmental consultancy who judged the results
of the challenge commented on the achievements, "There is clearly a
great degree of commitment to sustainability across the drpgroup as
well as within each team which is exemplary. There have been
examples of brilliance with verifiable measurements that have
resulted in significant and tangible positive impacts. The
drpdigitalmedia team's achievement is an excellent example of
sustainable development in action as it clearly meets the three
legs of sustainability, economic environmental and social. The
result is win-win for all, including drpgroup's clients."
