A Redditch-based family business has streamlined its operation
as it prepares to hand over to the next generation.
Redditch Joinery owner Mick O'Callaghan is retiring, with son
Wayne and his business partner Stuart Dyson gradually taking over
during the course of the next year.
And as part of the switch the firm has moved to new premises in
the town with the help of Redditch commercial property agent John
Truslove.
Established in 1984, Redditch Joinery has a well deserved
reputation for quality, using both traditional and modern
techniques. It specialises in windows, doors, fitted bedrooms,
kitchens, gates, shop fitting, and office furniture, covering both
the domestic and commercial sectors, but its skilled tradesmen can
turn their hand to more or less any requirement.
Wayne said: "The majority of our work is 'one off' bespoke
design - not mass produced.
"We have a wealth of experience which has enabled us to expand
our customer base beyond the local area working for private
individuals, architects, designers and building contractors."
The firm has moved from Weights Lane to a 3,354 sq ft
factory/warehouse at 14 Thornhill Road, North Moons Moat on a five
year lease.
Wayne said: "We are very happy with the way trade is progressing
but decided, given the wider economic climate, we needed to be as
competitive as we could possibly be.
"The plan is still to grow the business but these are actually
slightly smaller premises and means we can trim our overheads
accordingly."
John Truslove said: "This is a long-established local company -
the bedrock of the community.
"They are gearing themselves up for the future and we were very
pleased to help them restructure."
Mr Truslove said the deal had been expedited by landlord
Willowbrite's willingness to offer flexible and competitive
terms.
