In response to increasing demand for its services and products,
Shropshire Housing Alliance (SHA), one of the largest charities in
the county, has recently signed the lease on new and larger
premises for its advice and support offices, and Oswestry Furniture
Scheme, with a view to taking up occupation early in 2012.
SHA is a voluntary organisation that's core objectives are to
assist homeless people in need of housing, to relieve poverty,
protect the environment and improve the quality of life for
individuals and families throughout Shropshire.
The new premises at Glovers Meadow, Mile End Industrial Estate,
will provide a larger showroom for furniture sales, increased
workshop space for the repair and restoration of furniture and more
suitable offices where clients can receive the necessary guidance
and support.
SHA joint chief operations officer Mandie Mulloy, said: "This
move is another step forward for the organisation and a further
commitment from SHA to the people of north Shropshire. The larger
sales area for the furniture scheme, which offers a range of high
quality general household items, modern and restored furniture and
antiques to the general public, should enable us to increase
revenue. In addition, we aim to cater for the increase in demand
from people who either can't afford to buy new furniture or are
simply looking for extra value for money. As a result our stock is
changing on a daily basis. I would encourage people to visit
regularly if they are interested finding something in particular or
have items to donate. We are keen to succeed, especially at a time
when the retail sector is struggling."
The move will be celebrated by a grand public opening on Friday
27 January 2012 at 2.00pm. People will be asked to bring a reusable
item to donate.
