Birmingham and London law firm SHG Martineau has recently
promoted a number of key individuals as it demonstrates its growing
reputation for real strength in depth across its practice
groups.
Luke Plimmer, a member of the firm's Real Estate Group since
2004, has been promoted to senior associate, in recognition of his
work in planning and property law. He has a background in the
construction industry and regularly works with major metropolitan
authorities, developers and education institutions.
Another talented member of the Real Estate Group, Perveen
Akhter, has had her growing reputation in the Construction team
rewarded with promotion to senior associate. She specialises in
building and civil engineering disputes and non-contentious
building procurement matters, regularly advising banks on the
suitability of security offered by construction companies.
New senior associate Alison Hancock joined the firm in 2003.
With more than 20 years' experience in commercial and property
litigation, her promotion is reward for her high quality work for
clients in the Leisure sector, a key focus area for the firm, and
in particular disputes on behalf of pubco landlords.
Also recently promoted to senior associate is Lee Stafford, a
solicitor in the firm's Dispute Resolution group. He works on a
variety of commercial litigation matters, with particular expertise
acting for financial institutions in respect of claims for
professional negligence and breach of contract against solicitors
and valuers.
A further young solicitor gaining recognition for important work
at SGH Martineau is James Fownes, another member of the firm's Real
Estate Group. He is a key member of the Real Estate Disputes team,
specialising in all aspects of property litigation and has been
promoted to associate level.
SGH Martineau managing partner Bill Barker said of the
promotions: "Part of this firm's ethos has always been to nurture
and promote the talent from within. These are individuals that
understand the firm's ambition and know what it is we are trying to
achieve; it is immensely satisfying to see their careers
progressing this quickly.
"These promotions reflect the ambition we have for the future,
particularly those in the Real Estate Group that underline our
commitment to the sector and our optimism for a resurgence in the
construction sector in 2012. I expect great things from those we
have recently promoted and know they have the talent and ambition
to be part of the long term success here at SGH Martineau."
