Two Nottinghamshire businesses are out of the blocks early in
2012 thanks to a business boost from the upcoming London
Olympics.
West Bridgford-based Proludic and Park Logistics based in
Colwick have signed a new distribution contract to help Proludic
fulfill an anticipated 30% increase in installations of play and
sports equipment, worth an estimated £3 million.
This anticipated growth, which has also seen Proludic recruit
six new members of staff, comes as local authorities, housing
associations and community groups across the UK seek to deliver on
the Olympic legacy promised by Lord Coe when London won the
games.
Proludic has been able to tap into the increased demand for
community play, sports and fitness areas with its new Sports Legacy
Zone. This new concept combines play, sport and exercise and has
been developed in partnership with Olympians Steve Backley and
Roger Black.
Proludic's managing director, Michael Hoenigmann comments: "It's
good to see the Olympic-effect giving a significant boost for
businesses outside the capital.
"We've worked hard to create the right concept to meet the
legacy aims of the Olympic games and are busy working on tailoring
the scheme to the specific needs of local communities across the
UK.
"It's also good to be able to partner with Park Logistics,
another Nottingham business, on helping to meet this increased
demand. It shows how investment prompted by the Olympics can
trickle down through the economy."
The Sports Legacy Zone features a range of equipment suitable
for children, teenagers and adults. It allows users to scan a QR
code next to each piece of equipment and download a virtual
coaching video from Steve Backley or Roger Black.
The Sports Legacy Zone is also suitable for use by community
sports coaches, teachers or parents to set individual or team
challenges.
The special equipment will start appearing in local parks from
April 2012 as part of Sports Legacy Zones. By the end of 2012 up to
30 Sports Legacy Zones will have been built across the UK.
