The UK arm of one of Europe's leading gas control companies has
capped its most successful year by enlisting a Coventry
construction firm to double the size of its Nuneaton warehouse and
assembly facility.
Karl Dungs was first established in Germany in 1945 and now has
an annual turnover of around 110million Euros along with agents
across the globe including Turkey, Russia, China and United
States.
Nuneaton has been home to the firm's UK operation for the past
30 years, initially at Slingsby Close before it moved to Liberty
Way in 1997.
In 2001, current managing director David Manion oversaw the
company's transition to the production of 'value added' goods and
since then it has gone from strength to strength - with the past
year being the branch's best yet.
In order to help maintain this impressive progress, Mr Manion
challenged Coventry-based Deeley Construction to increase the size
of its assembly area in a tight schedule while causing minimal
disruption to ongoing projects - and he was delighted with the
results.
He said: "Karl Dungs is a European leader in the manufacture of
gas control systems for commercial and domestic boilers, power
generation and industrial process equipment.
"Just over ten years ago we switched our focus from purely
selling individual products to combining that with value added
services such as system design, assembly and on-going support.
"This has been a great success and off the back of that we
sought to increase the size of our facility to help us continue on
this path.
"We had heard good things about Deeley and so we were quite
demanding of them. They met all of our targets and completed the
task of doubling the size of our assembly area in just 14 weeks, we
couldn't have asked for more."
Martin Gallagher, managing director of Deeley Construction,
explained that this project tested his team in a number of ways.
But he too was very pleased with the outcome.
He said: "As well as the strict time constraints placed on this
development one of the most challenging aspects was that we had to
increase the size of the warehouse by 210 square metres without
disturbing the work that was already going on.
"We managed to do this, partly by forming a good working
relationship with the Karl Dungs staff which allowed us to work
around their needs.
"It is another example too of how our team thrives under
situations where they are challenged to work to a very precise set
of specifications in a limited amount of time."
