Liz Doogan-Hobbs MBE has been invited to join a new business
club put together by ITV News to bring together 100 influential,
high profile and successful entrepreneurs from across the UK.
The Business Club is the premier forum for businesses across the
UK which allows them to speak directly to each other and - most
importantly - the public about the big issues affecting jobs and
economic growth.
ITV Central Business Correspondent, Mark Gough, was looking for
inspiring, articulative business men and women from the area and
approached Liz as one of the Midland's most successful business
women.
Liz attended the debate that was held at Marco Pierre White
restaurant in Birmingham on Friday 13 January. The debate was
televised on Tuesday 17 January and Wednesday 18 January. The
debate discussed topics such as members' individual experiences of
doing business, personal hopes and fears for 2012 and how the
economic climate is affecting their business plans.
Other members of the ITV Business Club include: Lord Digby
Jones, Chairman of Triumph Motorcycles, Crossbencher in the Lords
and Corporate ambassador for Jaguar, Landrover and JCB and former
Director General of the CBI; Paul Kehoe, Chief Executive Officer of
Birmingham International Airport and; Paul Thandi, Chief Executive
Officer of the Birmingham National Exhibition Centre.
Liz Doogan-Hobbs MBE became British Waterski Racing Champion at
the age of 16 and World Waterski Racing Champion at the age of 21,
a title she successfully retained. She became British Champion
seven times and broke the British, European and World speed records
on Lake Windermere. She took the European Water Ski Racing title
before her 18th birthday on her way to becoming the most successful
female British water skier of all time. Following her retirement
from competitive sport, Liz started her own business and is now
Chief Executive of Nottinghamshire based Liz Hobbs Group, the UK's
leading concert producer and entertainment provider for sporting
venues, working with artists like Rod Stewart, Sir Tom Jones and
Westlife.
Liz said: "Being invited to join the ITV Business Club comes in
the wake of an amazing year and after achieving 20th place in The
Sunday Times FastTrack 100. In our sector we like to think that Liz
Hobbs Group continues to set the pace for business excellence and
it is great that this continues to be recognised.
"It's wonderful that ITV are breaking new ground and giving
smaller businesses a voice through such difficult times. The debate
was lively and constructive and there was a good spread of
experience and opinions. I am really looking forward to joining the
debates throughout the rest of the year to see how the fantastic
mix of businesses we have in the UK are steering their way through
the difficult economic environment."
There are plans for two further debates which it is hoped will
give a continued up-to-date analysis from the coal face of the
British industry.
The ITV Business Club was shown on Tuesday 17 and Wednesday 18
January on Central Tonight at 1800.
