More blushing brides will be able to get their hands on the
creations of a Birmingham shoe designer after she opens a new
showroom in the area.
Rachel Simpson, owner of Rachel Simpson Ltd, has signed a
three-year lease for a 1,361 sq ft unit on Castle Road at SEGRO's
Kings Norton Business Centre (KNBC).
Hot on the heels of an 11-year career as a shoe designer,
including several years as a freelance designer for suppliers to
major high street names, Rachel started her own business in 2008.
In the same year, Rachel's first collection was shown at The
National Wedding Show.
Jane Leedham, leasing manager for SEGRO, said: "Rachel's designs
are simply stunning. We are pleased to be able to provide the
company with a secure unit that has all its requirements under one
roof, including a space for customers to enjoy the experience of
buying shoes for a special occasion."
John Sambrooks from DTZ, who agreed the letting, said that
SEGRO's flexible leases support growth of small businesses, such as
Rachel's, and the high-end, modern unit reflects the quality of the
shoe brand.
Rachel said: "Before moving to KNBC I was based in Digbeth.
However, the warehouse and office were in separate units, so it
wasn't an efficient working space.
"We are now in a fantastic, central location that is close to
the city centre as well as the motorway network and we have an
all-purpose unit with office space, a warehouse and a large
showroom, all in one place."
Rachel currently employs two additional members of staff but
hopes to expand the team further as sales continue to grow.
Designed in Birmingham then handmade in Spain, Rachel Simpson's
shoes are available in a number of bridal stores nationwide and
online at www.rachelsimpsonshoes.co.uk. Rachel is also hoping to
build on her high street background by designing more colourful,
fashion-led collections.
