The launch of Birmingham's new Hampton by Hilton hotel has moved a step closer with the appointment of its general manager.

Elaine Grahame has been appointed by hotel operators Sanguine Hospitality to lead the 285-bedroom Broad Street property, which will become Europe's largest Hampton by Hilton when it opens its doors in May.

Grahame has more than 13 years' experience in the hospitality industry, including four years as general manager at Holiday Inn Manchester West and previous spells as director of sales at the prestigious Hilton and Le Meridien hotels, also in Manchester.

Speaking of her appointment, Grahame said: "The Hampton by Hilton brand stands for affordable style in a great location, and this development promises to become the standard bearer for that approach.

"Birmingham has such a great vibe at the moment and it feels like the place to be, so I'm thrilled to be here as we launch a sophisticated, contemporary hotel to the market.

"Our goal is to provide high quality accommodation for guests across the leisure and business spectrum, catering for their individual needs and delivering the best value hotel stay in the city."

Sanguine Hospitality recently launched Hotel Indigo and Marco Pierre White at The Cube in Birmingham city centre and is also underway with plans to create a 224-bedroom Holiday Inn Express in Snow Hill.

Robin Wicks, chief executive at Sanguine Hospitality, said: "The scale of this development, creating the largest Hampton by Hilton in Europe, in addition to our other projects in Birmingham, demonstrates our level of commitment to the city.

"It was essential that we recruited someone who could not only help us to launch the venue but also allow it to prosper. The breadth and depth of Elaine's industry experience made her the natural choice and we're delighted she is on board."

Each bedroom comes equipped with flat screen HDTV, working desk facilities, en suite bathrooms and walk-in showers, while The Hampton Bed Experience means guests will enjoy pillow-top mattress, plush comforter, crisp white duvet and choice of pillows. The hotel will also offer free wi-fi throughout and complimentary hot and cold breakfast.
