The University of Nottingham has named Michael Carr as its new
Director of Business Engagement and Innovation Services (BEIS).
As Director of BEIS, Michael will be responsible for the
University's Commercialisation, Partnerships and Knowledge Transfer
functions.
He joins the University after a short period working as a
consultant providing guidance to blue chip clients on economic
development strategy and delivery.
Previously, Michael led the Business Services team at the East
Midlands Development Agency (emda) and worked closely with the
region's universities, including The University of Nottingham.
At emda, he was responsible for all aspects of the agency's
support to business, including its innovation, inward investment
and growth programmes.
Michael also chaired the Regional Development Agency (RDA)
Enterprise Directors group and led the RDA network's enterprise and
business support policy input to Government.
The University of Nottingham's BEIS directorate aims to deliver
business engagement and knowledge transfer objectives set out in
the University's Strategic Plan 2010-15, and contribute expertise
and guidance across the full spectrum of the University's
innovation activities.
BEIS consists of the following teams:

• Partnerships
• Technology Transfer and Commercialisation, which includes
Nottingham University Consultants
The BEIS directorate is based at the Sir Colin Campbell
Building, University of Nottingham Innovation Park, Triumph Road in
Nottingham.
