New Business Engagement Director joins The University of Nottingham

The University of Nottingham has named Michael Carr as its new Director of Business Engagement and Innovation Services (BEIS).

As Director of BEIS, Michael will be responsible for the University's Commercialisation, Partnerships and Knowledge Transfer functions.

He joins the University after a short period working as a consultant providing guidance to blue chip clients on economic development strategy and delivery.

Previously, Michael led the Business Services team at the East Midlands Development Agency (emda) and worked closely with the region's universities, including The University of Nottingham.

At emda, he was responsible for all aspects of the agency's support to business, including its innovation, inward investment and growth programmes.

Michael also chaired the Regional Development Agency (RDA) Enterprise Directors group and led the RDA network's enterprise and business support policy input to Government.

The University of Nottingham's BEIS directorate aims to deliver business engagement and knowledge transfer objectives set out in the University's Strategic Plan 2010-15, and contribute expertise and guidance across the full spectrum of the University's innovation activities.

BEIS consists of the following teams:

• Knowledge Transfer

• Partnerships

• Technology Transfer and Commercialisation, which includes Nottingham University Consultants

The BEIS directorate is based at the Sir Colin Campbell Building, University of Nottingham Innovation Park, Triumph Road in Nottingham.
