Two apprentices for award-winning housebuilder, Miller Homes
East Midlands, are being recognised for their achievements and
commitment to their training to become fully qualified
joiners.
Josh McCabe who is based at The Vales development in Bingham and
Liam Sutton who is based at the Lakeside Country park development
in Leicester, succeeded in the completion of individual tasks such
as fitting garage roof timbers, first floor joists and completing a
first fix in a plot. They were also set a challenging programme to
take a house all the way through to a final fix.
The apprentices were sourced via construction skills, the
largest provider of apprentices for the construction industry, and
study alongside their onsite training. Josh is a student at New
College Nottingham and Liam is a student at the Freemen's Park
Campus in Leicester.
They are twelve months into their three-year apprenticeships to
become fully qualified joiners, and Malcolm Ceney, production
director for Miller Homes East Midlands, is incredibly pleased with
their development so far:
"Both Josh and Liam are highly valued members of the Miller
Homes team. Their dedication and hard work are second to none, and
we have absolutely no doubt that they will be incredibly successful
in their apprenticeships and their future careers as
joiners.
"The next immediate challenges will be a second and third fix
finishing with the fitting of a front door, and we are confident
that both joiners will embrace and complete any task that is set
before them."
Miller works to provide the best practical support for the
apprentices, who both combine college learning with on-site
experience to ensure the right balance of practical and technical
skills.
