Businesses across the Midlands are being invited to start 2012
on a healthy note by competing against each other in one of the
region's biggest running events and raise thousands of pounds for
charity.
The Cooper Parry Business Team Challenge is looking for teams
from the city and the county to take part in the annual 10k charity
road race and raise money for the events nominated charities
Rainbows and Sporting Futures.
The challenge, which is part of the Derby 10k, has been
organised by business advisory firm Cooper Parry, which has offices
across the Midlands, and aims to encourage firms to use the event
as a way to promote a healthier lifestyle within the workplace.
Last year, over 80 businesses from across the Midlands entered
the event raising over £12,000 for a number of charities in
the region.
Melanie Campbell, race organiser at Cooper Parry said: "The
challenge is a really fun day out for runners of all levels which
raises large amounts of money for charity.
"We urge all businesses in the Midlands to enter a team in what
will be another exciting event. It is also a good opportunity for
companies to start their fitness campaign in the New Year and use
the event as a way to stay fit."
The challenge, aimed at local businesses, sees teams of four or
more from different companies compete against one another in a 10k
run. At the end of the race, the four quickest times from each team
are put forward for the final result.
The Cooper Parry Business Team Challenge is part of the
Derbyshire Building Society 10k run and will take place on Sunday 1
April 2012 at Pride Park stadium.
Entrants in the Cooper Parry Business Team Challenge will enjoy
all the benefits of the individual 10k race, plus hospitality in
the exclusive Pedigree Suite overlooking Pride Park Stadium, race
t-shirt, team photo, prize-giving, a designated massage area and a
supervised baggage area.
Last year's challenge was won by Lubrizol based in Hazelwood,
Derbyshire. Second place was awarded to PricewaterhouseCoopers A
Team with PricewaterhouseCoopers - B Team coming in third place.
The team who raised the most money for charity was Fluid Ideas who
raised over £2000 for Alzheimer's Society.
