If the clock striking midnight on 31st December was more of a
let-down than a lift off for you this year, then don't let the end
of January go the same way. With the help of a local hotel, you can
now make sure that you say your goodbyes to 2011 and celebrate
seeing the back of the most depressing day of the year on 16th
January, in style!
On 27th January, The Clumber Park Hotel and Spa, situated in the
heart of picturesque Robin Hood country, is hosting a swing night
where you can dance the night and/or blues away courtesy of
acclaimed Nottinghamshire based band New Swing All Stars.
Comprising of four very talented musicians Jonny Bingham
(vocals), Simon Paterson (double bass), Steve Smith (drums) and
Paulus Deatus (piano), the quartet will be sure to entertain with
great songs played in a classy bold, swing style. They're also not
afraid to rock out to The Jam and Nirvana or lay back with
uber-cool rat pack classics.
With a performance CV including the main stage at Glastonbury
Festival, Top of The Pops and touring with British band Blur, by
the end of the night, New Swing All Stars are guaranteed to have
banished any 2012 blues and turned ticket holders into a very happy
band of merry men (and women) indeed.
"We're really looking forward to playing at the hotel again. It
was sold out last time and everyone had an amazing time," says
Simon Paterson, who plays double bass in the band. "There was
a fantastic atmosphere - we love to play when there's such a great
response!"
For £29 per person the following is included:
• Performance set by New Swing All Stars
• Buffet
• Disco till late
"The period just after Christmas and New Year is always a bit
sombre when all the festive fun and partying is well and truly over
- January 16th has even been officially christened Blue
Monday and the most depressing day of the year!" says Edward Mobbs,
the hotel's Sales and Marketing Manager.
"At the hotel we want to prove to people that the first few
weeks of the New Year don't have to be that way, and you should aim
to end January 2012 as you mean to go on," he continues.
"The New Swing All Stars night will be sure to hit all the right
notes so why not give them a whirl, and who knows? It might help
the rest of your year go with a swing too!"
