The food sector will play a major part in the economic
regeneration of the UK, and Lincolnshire is set to play a major
part in that, according to Sales and Marketing Director at QV Foods
and Fresh Approach Simon Martin.
Simon is one of the speakers at Invest in Lincolnshire, a
networking event for property agents and developers at the
DoubleTree by Hilton Lincoln on 23rd February 2012.
"Lincolnshire is the capital of fresh produce and farmers in the
county really don't get the praise they deserve," said Simon.
The event, which is being organised by Invest Lincolnshire -
part of Lincolnshire County Council - runs from 11:30am to 2pm and
will bring together commercial property agents and developers and
introduce them to the new Business Investment Team at Invest
Lincolnshire.
Besides Simon it will also feature Q&A sessions by business
leaders from organisations including DoubleTree by Hilton and
Siemens.
Speakers will be discussing local investment, something Simon
believes secured the success of QV Foods. In the past three years
the Lincolnshire-based company has become one of the biggest
packers of fresh produce in the UK and acquired three companies. In
light of such success, Simon said it's time for farmers to make
more noise about the impact this success is having on the
economy.
"The sector could become even stronger with more collaboration,"
he explained. "Farmers tend to work independently, but if we work
together we could see even better results.
"Our industry is so innovative and this county is so passionate
about food - it's a winning combination that needs to be
celebrated."
Those attending the event will have the opportunity to network
with other commercial property professionals and developers and
enjoy a tour of the new DoubleTree by Hilton on Lincoln's Brayford
Pool.
Jenny Gammon, Assistant Director for Economy and Culture at
Lincolnshire County Council, will also talk about major development
opportunities and economic initiatives in the county.
