New businesses in the East Midlands are being urged to use a
free advice service: Start Up Smart Up, launched by the Institute
of Directors (IoD).
The service is an on-line initiative providing simple, impartial
and practical advice on the most important aspects of setting up
and growing a business in the early stages.
Each year thousands of people think about launching a new
business in the region. Ron Lynch, IoD East Midlands Regional
Director said:" We are a nation of entrepreneurs and innovators,
and yet great ideas, driven by passionate people are often not
succeeding, in part due to a lack of basic knowledge of what it
means to set up and run a business."
"Start Up SmartUp provides a portal where people who are
thinking of setting up or are in the early stages of developing a
business can get some free impartial and practical advice on some
of the key areas they need to think about. This will hopefully
increase their chances of business success and survival."
He added:" The IoD has been around for over 100 years supporting
UK businesses and we want to give out some key information and
advice to help those who are embarking on this journey."
Launched recently during Global Enterprise Week, Start Up Smart
Up which offers a comprehensive schedule of advice about every
aspect of setting up a business, is available at
www.iod.com/startupsmartup .
The IoD in the East Midlands also offers a range of business
subject- related events and networking opportunities for its
Members and guests via the Leicestershire, Lincolnshire,
Northamptonshire and Nottinghamshire and Derbyshire branches. It is
also working closely with UKTI and other organisations in the
region to provide support and develop growth of new and existing
companies.
