Two of the country's top business organisations and local
companies join forces in an international trade panel event to be
held in Derby on Tuesday 7 February, in a bid to boost exports.
The Institute of Directors (IoD) and UK Trade &Investment
(UKTI) are hosting an early evening business seminar in the Derby
Enterprise Centre. A panel of local companies and organisations
with international trade connections will highlight the benefits of
exporting, followed by a practical advice session with the export
experts UKTI.
Ron Lynch, IoD East Midlands Regional Director said:" This is
the fourth in a series of joint events in the region with UKTI to
help companies boost their export opportunities and learn from some
of the local experts who have already been successful in
international markets."
The panel will be chaired by John Forkin of Marketing Derby who
are responsible for promoting Derby as a centre to do business,
both nationally and internationally by raising Derby's profile,
communicating positive news and working closely with partners in
private and public.
Gerry Beetles, Chairman of Davis Derby, who specialise in safety
and communications systems for hazardous environments will also be
on the panel. With a network of subsidiaries and agents across
Europe, the Middle East, the Americas and Australasia and a proud
history of innovation, Davis Derby enjoys a reputation for quality
and reliability across the world.
Attending the event, export expert Peter Hogarth, Regional
Director for UK Trade & Investment East Midlands, said:
"Derbyshire businesses need to embrace exporting if they want to
grow. Overseas companies are clamouring for UK-made goods and
across Derbyshire we've got a diverse array of excellent companies
that need to ensure they take full advantage of the opportunities
out there.
"We are determined to drive up exports in 2012 and the number of
exporters in the region as it's the only way for the economy to
grow. Export figures are already on target to equal their
highest level this century at £17bn for goods plus another
£1bn in services, but 2012 figures can be even better.
"This event gives companies the chance to ask questions of
experts and local companies that are already winning business
overseas. So, whatever your worries or concerns, come along and
find out how you can do it. The rewards from exporting are
excellent but you need to be in it to win it!"
