Oddfest
After success in 2011 the Oddfellows Arms in Astwood Bank is
planning two fund raising events for 2012.
Landlord John Hodgetts and his son Dan are now calling on their
friends in the music industry to support 'Oddfest' after the trial
run raised £480 in a single day for the Make a wish
Foundation.
The funds were boosted by an additional £300 after Dan's
company Pertemps People Development Group with offices in Redditch,
agreed to make a donation from their payroll giving scheme.
"I read about the work of the Make a Wish Foundation and helping
children with life limiting illness is always an excellent cause to
support," explained Dan.
"It was a tremendous day with several bands playing, food and
drink sales, face painting and a silent auction. All the musicians
donated their time free so we we're able to raise a significant
amount for the charity and hopefully even more next year."
PPDG has an extensive community support programme and is itself
extremely proud of recently surpassing the £150,000 milestone
of giving back through payroll donations.
PR Manager Phil Pemble said: The Company is always willing to
support employees like Dan who give up their own time to undertake
charitable work.
"It's a novel way to fund raise and everyone connected with the
pub seems to have hit upon a recipe for success. Congratulations
are certainly in order and we look forward to supporting next
year's event."
